Appraiser Code of Ethics

The appraiser will conduct themselves in a professional manner in order to inspire confidence by fair and honorable dealings; not show prejudice or favoritism toward any party involved; disregard any effort on the part of the vehicle owner, repair facility, client representative, attorneys or others to influence the appraiser’s judgment. At no time will the appraiser be involved in the purchase of salvage and/or become financially involved with a salvage facility.

  • Contact with vehicle owner within 24 hours* of receiving the assignment (usually the same day). Contact will be made with the vehicle owner even when the vehicle is not in the owner’s possession, in order to keep them informed.

  • Inspection of the vehicle within 48 hours** of receiving the assignment.

  • Completion and return of the appraisal within 72** hours of receiving the assignment.

  • Be fair in all dealings.

* If phone contact cannot be made within 24 hours (not including weekends and holidays), a contact letter will be sent to the vehicle owner and the client will be notified in accordance with Client Specific Guidelines. ** If the inspection or appraisal cannot be completed within 48/72 hours (not including weekends and holidays), a status report indicating the reason for the delay and anticipated completion date will be sent fastest means possible to the client.
